Specializing in Anxiety Treatment, Depression and Couples Therapy
Anxiety
Anxiety is a common complaint; but knowing that one is not alone is not enough to make a person somehow magically feel better. With the help of a therapist, you can learn how to use multiple different tools and ways of thinking to work through this in your own time. Oftentimes it is thinking about the situation and interacting with the environment a little bit differently is what can ultimately help you begin your journey towards feeling better about yourself and the world we live in. .
Depression
Depression can make things feel so hopeless sometimes. It's hard to do just about everything in that place. Reach out and we will see what can be done to help you start feeling better. You don't have to do this alone. Getting the right kind of help can set off changes that will help you finally turn a corner in the right direction. There's no reason to have shame for having this struggle, life is really hard sometimes, but there are definitely some things that can maybe make it better, or help a person cope if there are things happening that are truly outside of their control.

Relationships
If you are struggling in your relationships that is a valid reason to come to therapy. I will take great interest in taking your problems in your past or current relationships seriously and giving you tools to explore what can be done to try and make it better. Relationships can be complicated because of so many variables. People are individuals first; each with their own unique traits, experiences, and personalities. When relationships are involved, we also have something like a separate entity to try and figure out, and that is not always easy. If you want to learn how to possibly improve things from where you are standing on your own, or with the company of another person (or people), reach out for a free 10-15 minute consultation.
ADHD & Neurodiversity
I am especially fond of working with the ADHD and neurodivergent populations. If suspecting you or your loved one has AHD we can screen for symptoms and other factors to determine if it seems appropriate to get an evaluation for that and/or other possible conditions. If given a diagnoses (or there already is a diagnosis) we can begin the process of learning what it all means, working with symptoms, and talking about how the positive traits can be encouraged. Just like anyone else; people with ADHD, ASD, or highly sensitive people, we all need to find out what we are most suited for, or what might hold the most meaning for us so we might improve chances of living the best life we can.
Trauma
Often we wonder where to begin when there's been trauma. If you or your loved one has experienced just a few or multiple traumas throughout the lifetime, we can talk about them in a safe space and discuss what might be helpful in treating the difficulties caused by the experience(s). With a person-centered approach I will be sensitive to what is happening in your world, allowing you to work at your own pace in whichever ways are most helpful to you. I understand that no two people respond to any one thing the same way, and that's okay.
Adolescent Therapy
I really enjoy working with young people. It's not difficult for me to remember what that stage of life can be like, so I can empathize with those who are confused about where life is about to take them; including those who have not thought that far ahead. Sometimes struggles in childhood have made it hard to see beyond those times, or beyond what is happening now. For many, it is what is ahead that causes them or their parents to worry if it will ever get better. It's okay if you are unsure what the problem even is, I offer assessments that help make that more understandable, and treatments for improving functioning and mental health. You don't have to try and do it alone, I definitely believe the phrase "it takes a village" is true.
